May 1—College Decision Day. It's time to make your choice. By 11:59 p.m. tonight, you'll have decided where you'll begin your college career in the fall. How are you feeling about your decision? Are you excited, nervous, happy, at peace, or regretful? However you feel, I want you to know it will all be okay!
When my own clients are trying to decide their path, I always send them words of encouragement from the amazing founder of Apple, Steve Jobs. I find it difficult to believe that even in the next, short few years, I'll have to probably explain who Steve Jobs was, which is just so crazy to me! If you are not familiar with this man's greatness, please read a eulogy written by my husband on the man; it pretty much sums it up here. Anyway, I send these words to my students, relating to their path in making their college choice:

"Your time is limited; so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't
be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's
thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." - Steve Jobs

Is it just me or are those words powerful to any one deciding between paths for their future? So, take heart dear senior, this whole college admissions journey will be over in just a few hours. After you decide, I hope you look back and give yourself credit for the hardwork you've endured this year, and all the years leading up to this very moment. It wasn't easy balancing all you had to juggle. Bravo! And know that this one decision won't ruin your life if you happen to regret your choice. It's where you finish, not where you begin that matters. But, beginning is half the battle. You've done that. See how it goes in the fall. If you're not happy, consider a transfer. The most successful people have transferred colleges: Barack Obama, Warren Buffet, Donald Trump, Tom Hanks, Stephen Colbert, George Lucas, and even Steven Speilberg, just to name a few! You'd be in good company if you decide to transfer. Do you know why? Because you, and all of those other people, know yourself well enough to know when to seek a better-fit opportunity. So, don't think this one decision on where you are going to college this fall will isolate you to one path. Only you can do that by staying on it. Explore. Give it a shot. Then decide. Greatness is in you, not in the school you choose to attend this fall.
Genuine congratulations to the Class of 2025 Seniors, and all the best to you all!
